For the last few years, Improv Initiative has been developing a programme of advanced communication training for healthcare professionals of all areas and qualification level, including doctors, nurses, carers, receptionists and many others.
Applied Improvisation provides the perfect toolkit of experiential exercises to examine the attitudes, mind-sets and behaviours that enhance effective teamwork, collaboration and communication within a healthcare setting.
Improv Initiative director Jon Trevor has combined forces with Dr Esther Waterhouse, Consultant in Palliative Medicine and communication skills trainer, to deliver Applied Improvisation training to healthcare staff throughout the UK, both as invited inhouse trainers to various NHS trusts, or at their own training symposiums.
We are holding 2 study days using Applied Improvisation for Advanced Communication in 2023 for Healthcare Professionals of every area, in April and September. Click here for details.
Testimonials:
“I was delighted to be challenged in my thinking and practice by the medical improvisation course and have been able to use activities from the day in delivering advanced communication skill training already”
Dr Luke Feathers, Palliative Care Consultant
“I learn a profound communication skill from every session of improv I attend. The imaginative way of learning through play is something I deeply appreciate, as it is not common in adult learning. I believe that every trainee should do improv as a way of learning communication skills“
Dr. Huda Mahmoud, Nephrology Consultant
